The model 164 is a container feeder vessel type of Sietas in Neuenfelde . From 1999 to 2006, three units of this series were built, one of which was a basic type 164 and one each of the sub-type 164a and sub-type 164b.
history
The model ship of the series was commissioned in November 1996 by the Jork- based correspondent shipping company Hans Peter Wegener under the name Atria in order to charter it to the Finnish shipping company Containerships . The owner of the new building was the shipping company MS “Atria” GmbH & Co. KG (formerly new building no. 1179 Hans Peter Wegener KG). The floating of the Atria took place on August 25, 1999. She was delivered on October 8, 1999 as Containerships VI and started up by the Finnish shipping company.
In February 2001, the shipping company Containerships awarded the Sietas shipyard the construction contract for Containerships VII . It is around four meters longer than the first ship and also has other modifications, so that this version was given the type designation 164a. The Containerships VII was launched on September 14, 2002, completed its first test drive on October 23 and was delivered to Containerships on November 1, 2002.
The third ship belongs to the sub-type 164b and was named Mira by the correspondent shipping company H.-P. Wegener appointed for the partner shipping company MS "Mira" GmbH & Co. KG. This ship was also intended for long-term charter to container ships. It was launched on November 13, 2005, made its first test drive on January 5, 2006 and was delivered on January 7, 2006 with the name Containerships VIII .
technology
The type 164 is a further development of the type 153. The three ships are 21.75 meters wide, but differ from one another in their length. They were manufactured in sectional construction and are classified for ice thicknesses of up to 80 centimeters ( ice class E3). The ships of the series have four box-shaped cargo holds with hatch covers , but the division and size of the hatches vary in the individual sub-types. All three units are driven by a marine diesel engine from the manufacturer Wärtsilä , which acts on a controllable pitch propeller via a reduction gear . They have an electrically powered bow thruster for berthing and casting off maneuvers . There are two diesel generators and a shaft generator on board to generate electricity, and an emergency generator was also installed. The shipping companies Containerships and H.-P. Wegener had the ships retrofitted with gas washers.
Type 164
The basic type 164 is 154.64 meters long and has a load capacity of 13,645 dwt . It can carry up to 966 20-foot standard containers (TEU) or, alternatively, a maximum of 467 40-foot containers (FEU) plus 32 TEU. The holds have a volume of 17,840 m³ (630,000 cubic feet ) and a capacity of 338 TEU. With an average weight of 14 t per container, a maximum of 665 TEU can be loaded for reasons of stability. There are connections for 126 refrigerated containers on board. A transport of containers with special dimensions is possible, whereby up to 182 45-foot containers can be stowed on deck. The type 164 is of a 12,600 kW paid driven Wartsila 7L64 diesel engine. It has an electrically powered bow thruster with an output of 800 kW.
Type 164a
The sub-type 164a is 158.76 meters long and has a load capacity of 13,965 dwt. Like that of the basic type, its capacity is a maximum of 966 TEU. There are connections for 114 refrigerated containers on board. It is powered by a Wärtsilä 7L64 diesel engine, the output of which has been increased to 12,900 kW. The electrically powered bow thruster has an output of 800 kW.
Type 164b
Like the basic type, the sub-type 164b has a length of 154.64 meters. It has a deadweight capacity of 13,400 dwt. The size and layout of its hatches have been optimized for the transport of 45-foot containers, so that these special-size containers can be stowed not only on deck, but also in the holds. In addition, the tank roof in the front part of the hull was flattened in order to increase the capacities below deck. The maximum container capacity is 850 TEU or 382 FEU plus 86 TEU. Alternatively, up to 342 45-foot containers (132 of them in the holds and 210 on deck) plus 9 FEU plus 32 TEU can be stowed. There are connections for 126 refrigerated containers on board. The sub-type 164b is powered by a 12,600 kW Wärtsilä 6L64 diesel engine. It has an electrically powered bow thruster with an output of 1000 kW.
