The Type 153 is a container feeder vessel type of Sietas in Neuenfelde . From 1994 to 1996, two units of this series were manufactured with the Spica and Wega .
history
The ships were ordered in the early 1990s by the Jork- based correspondent shipping company Hans Peter Wegener to be chartered out to the Finnish shipping company Containerships . The owners of the ships were the shipping companies MS "Spica" Hans Peter Wegener KG and MS "Wega" Hans Peter Wegener KG.
Under the name Spica commissioned type ship had on January 27, 1994 its launching by floating in the dock. It was delivered to the Finnish shipping company directly from the Sietas shipyard on March 31, 1994 as Containerships IV . The delivery of the second ship, which was named Containerships V , took place on May 10, 1996. Both units were initially used together in feeder traffic to / from Finland until summer 2003 . After the end of chartering to container ships, the Spica has been operating since January 2004 and the Wega since April 2009 for the H.-P. Wegener. Both ships were used intermittently on a 7-day circuit, starting from Alicante at the ports of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife .
technology
The section- built ships are 151.14 meters long and 19.40 meters wide. They have reinforced hulls and are designed for ice thicknesses of up to 80 centimeters ( ice class E3). Both units are of a marine diesel engine of the type MaK driven 8M 601C, of a via a reduction gear pitch propeller acts. The Spica's diesel engine has an output of 9,300 kW , the Wega 10,000 kW. They have an electrically powered bow thruster with 600 kW output for berthing and casting off maneuvers . There are two diesel generators and a shaft generator on board to generate electricity. An emergency generator was also installed.
The Type 153 has four box-shaped cargo holds with hatch covers . It can transport up to 749 20-foot standard containers (TEU) or alternatively a maximum of 343 40-foot containers (FEU) plus 63 TEU. The holds have a capacity of 248 TEU, another 501 TEU can be stowed on deck. The carrying capacity of the ships is 8,932 dwt . With an average weight of 14 t per container, a maximum of 453 TEU can be loaded for reasons of stability. There are connections for 102 refrigerated containers on board . It is possible to transport containers with special dimensions (30, 45 or 49 feet). The Type 153 formed the basis for the development of the Type 164 .
