Siegfried "Sigi" Roch (born March 26, 1959 in Wunsiedel ) is a former German handball goalkeeper . He played for 16 years for TV Großwallstadt in the handball Bundesliga and is its record player with 533 national and international appearances. He played 38 international matches for the German national team .

Life

Since 1991 Roch has held the record for the most seven-meter throws held in a Bundesliga game: in the game against Cottbus, he fended off seven seven meters. In his career, Roch made 471 Bundesliga appearances in which he held 344 seven meters.

After his active career in 1997, Roch became the first full-time manager of TV Großwallstadt. He is a co-founder of TV Großwallstadt Handball AG , which was introduced as the first stock company in the German handball league. Under his management, TV Großwallstadt won a title for the first time in ten years. After six years as a manager, he joined TuS N-Lübbecke in April 2003 . During his time as managing director, TuS rose to the first division with 68: 0 points. In the year of promotion, the TuS occupied eleventh place in the table in the handball Bundesliga. On December 7, 2006, the club separated from Roch "due to different views on further sporting development". Since December 18, 2009 he has been the sporting director of HSC 2000 Coburg and also largely takes on the functions of a manager.

Born in Wunsiedel, Roch is married to Uschi and the father of Christina (* 1987) and Isabell (* 1990). Isabell was part of the Thuringian HC Bundesliga squad at the age of 16 , was German champion in 2017 and is the goalkeeper of the German national team.

In 2007 Roch acquired his B license as a handball coach .
