Sigrid Früh (born May 18, 1935 near Ludwigsburg ; died December 7, 2016 in Fellbach ) was a German researcher and storyteller of myths and fairy tales .

Live and act

Sigrid Früh studied German and folklore in Tübingen and Zurich and devoted himself to the collection and publication of legends and fairy tales . Since the late 1970s she was involved in the founding of numerous institutions for the dissemination and research of fairy tales, such as the fairy tale days in Schorndorf , Witzenhausen , Weinstadt , Kronach and Fellbach . She was an active member of the European Fairy Tale Society and editor and author at the Königsfurt-Urania publishing house .

She compiled fairy tales from all parts of Europe and published them in the context of their country-specific or regional storytelling tradition or under selected topics such as women's fairy tales, fairy tales of mothers and daughters, fairy tales of death and new life or horse fairy tales. In addition to her research, lecturing and seminars, she also appeared as a narrator and campaigned for the preservation of the Swabian dialect. She published more than 60 books.
