Jürgen Croy (1978)

The GDR footballer of the year was awarded the Silver Football Boot 1976 for the 14th time . The editors of the magazine Die neue Fußballwoche had carried out a survey among sports editors of magazines and newspapers in the GDR to choose the best player for the 1975/76 season , and the six best footballers with points (ten points for the favorite, for the other places descending seven, five, three, two and one point). The highest total number of points was achieved (for the second time since 1972) by Jürgen Croy , who was awarded the silver football boot as Footballer of the Year on September 4, 1976 before the season opened in Zwickau .
