Silke Gnad , b. Thiel, divorced Fittinger, (born November 20, 1966 in Stralsund ) is a former German handball player .

Career

Silke Thiel started at ASV Vorwärts Stralsund in her youth . In 1980 she was delegated to the sports school in Frankfurt (Oder) . There she made her debut in the GDR Oberliga in 1984 at ASK Vorwärts Frankfurt . With the club she was three times GDR champion. In 1986 she made her debut in the national team of the GDR .

In the summer of 1990 she moved to TuS Walle Bremen . In the seven years in the Hanseatic city, she continued her successes and was four times German champion and three times DHB Cup winner with the team . With the German national team, she was runner-up in 1994 and voted the best player of the tournament. In 1996 she went to league competitor BVB Borussia Dortmund for two years and then to Vigasio Verona in Italy for two years. In 2000 she came back to Germany and joined the second division club SV Teutonia Riemke . With the club she rose to the first division . In 2002 she moved to the regional league team HG Remscheid .

Until May 2012, Silke Gnad was assistant trainer at third division club HSV Solingen-Gräfrath . If there was an emergency, she also played along herself.

Private

Silke Gnad has a professional training as a masseur and medical lifeguard . She was married to Andreas Fittinger in her first marriage from 1988 to 1993. Since 1995 she has been married to the former national basketball player and European champion Hansi Gnad , with whom she has two sons. She lives in Burscheid and runs a massage practice there.
