history

Handball

In 1998, the Teutonia handball players made it to the 2nd Bundesliga South . Two years later, the team was runner-up behind DJK / MJC Trier , before Teutonia rose to the Bundesliga in 2001 thanks to the better goal difference compared to DJK Augsburg-Hochzoll . After an eleventh place in the 2001/02 season , relegation followed a year later with just 1:47 points. The only point win was achieved in the derby against Borussia Dortmund . In 2006, he was relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga and four years later in the regional league the qualification for the new 3rd division was missed. Since then, the Teutonia handball players have been competing in the fourth-class Oberliga Westfalen.

The men's team of Teutonia has belonged to the fourth-class Oberliga Westfalen since the 1980s, with several interruptions. The greatest success was the runner-up behind TSG Herdecke in 1983. In 2013, they were promoted to the league again after Teutonia prevailed against Sportfreunde Loxten in two promotion games . The day before the first leg, Teutonia player André Bergermann competed as a candidate in the ProSieben show Schlag den Raab and only narrowly lost to show master Stefan Raab .

Soccer

The Teutonia footballers were champions of the Bochum district class in 1947, but failed in the promotion round to the state league at BV Brambauer and the Hörder SC . A year later the Teutons, trained by the ex-national player Ernst Kuzorra , became runner-up in the district class behind SG Wattenscheid 09 . In the following round of promotion, the Riemker missed promotion after a 1: 2 in the replay against VfB 07 Weidenau . By association decision, the team was subsequently included in the state league, which at that time formed the highest amateur league in Westphalia. The team was relegated unhappily in the following season. Since Teutonia lost ten games with one goal difference, one point was missing at the end of the season to keep them up.

After the direct resurgence, the Teutons played two years in the 2nd regional league Westphalia , only to return to the highest Westphalian league after its dissolution in 1952. Two relegations in a row brought the team in 1954 in the district class, before two ascents in a row lifted the Teutons back in 1956 in the national league. This was only fourth class after the introduction of the Association League in the same year. In 1961, Teutonia returned to the district class after two further descents in a row. Since then, the Teutons have only played at district level, apart from regional league guest games in the 1975/76 season, from 1979 to 1981 and from 1984 to 1986.

In 2013 the first team was relegated to the district league B and withdrew its team from this during the 2015/16 season. Since then, Teutonia has played in the district league C.
