Simone Wendel (* 1974 in Bad Dürkheim ) is a German documentary filmmaker , director , film producer and art director .

Life

Simone Wendel trained as a show advertising designer at Appelrath-Cüpper in Mannheim from 1992 to 1995 . In 1998 she began to study communication design in Mannheim and Darmstadt . In 2004 she successfully completed her studies. During her studies, she worked as a freelance writer, director, producer and communication designer. Her first documentary, commissioned for the German Architecture Museum to Friedensreich Hundertwasser ( ". Eleven architects Friedensreich Hundertwasser A Sunday Architect"), was released in 2005. That same year she founded as Managing Project Gold - filmmaker , an author - and production team , the commissions of various Produces genres and formats, but also carries out self-initiated projects.

In 2006 she was the producer of the short film The First Angel with Ralf Herforth and Heinz Werner Kraehkamp. Simone Wendel's first feature documentary Kings of Kallstadt was released in 2014 in coproduction with SWR and Arte . In addition, Kings of Kallstadt was accompanied by producer Kathleen Glynn as a mentor and consulting producer. The film introduces Simone Wendel's hometown Kallstadt in the Palatinate , from which the Donald Trumps family and the father of Henry John Heinz also come. Simone Wendel interviewed Donald Trump in the Trump Tower , where Trump was proud of his German roots. Kings of Kallstadt has received several awards, including the Roger Ebert Prize at the Traverse City Film Festival by American director Michael Moore .
