The Simrich is a 442.4  m above sea level. NHN high foothills of the Simberg ( 527.7  m ) in the Rothaargebirge and is considered its most south-westerly elevation. It is located near Burbach in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Siegen-Wittgenstein .

The Simrich, located in the southern part of the Rothaargebirge in the municipality of Burbach between the eponymous core town in the south and the Burbach districts of Wahlbach in the west and Gilsbach in the north-northeast, belongs to the Kalteiche massif as a southwestern branch of the Simberg . To the northeast the landscape leads over to Simberg and to the south, southwest and west it falls into the valley of the Heller flowing there in a southeast-northwest direction , into which the Gilsbach, which runs northwest of the elevation, flows near the village of Wahlbach. The 1.4 km long Fisselbach , which flows northeast of the Simrich and flows north of the elevation into the Gilsbach, rises on the Simberg southwest flank .

Natural allocation

The Simrich lies in the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33) on the border of the natural area Kalteiche (with Haincher Höhe) (333.00), which in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) to the subunit Dill-Lahn-Eder-source area ( 333.0) belongs to the natural area Mittleres Hellertal (331.31), which in the main unit Siegerland (331) belongs to the subunit Hellerbergland (331.3); the local valleys of Heller and Gilsbach are part of the natural area of Mittleres Hellertal .

Protected areas

North to northwest of the Simrichs are the 60  ha large nature reserve Gilsbachtal ( CDDA -No 318440;. 2002 noted), the unit area and size to coincide with thereat of wild fauna and flora habitat type region Gilsbachtal is (FFH No. 5214-302.).

Mining and Simrich Foothills

On the mountainside there are various old pings and tunnels, mainly on the Hellertal side; however, well-known mining did not take place. On the flanks of the 380.3  m high west-northwest foothills of the Simrich are the Wahlbach sports field and a war memorial as well as the village cemetery.

Between the Simrich and the Simberg, the state road  723 , which runs at a maximum height of 441  m, is a connecting road from Wilnsdorf through Wilden and Gilsbach to Burbach. It meets the L 531 south of the Simberg, which leads from Wahlbach through Burbach to Würgendorf. District road  12 branches off from the L 531 in Wahlbach and meets the L 723 in Gilsbach. The elevation itself can be reached on forest trails and paths.
