Mannheim Sculpture Mile

The Mannheim Sculpture Mile is a sculpture path in downtown Mannheim ( Baden-Württemberg ) along the Augustaanlage .
Mannheim culture mile
The sculpture path is part of the Mannheim cultural mile along the Technoseum , Planetarium Mannheim , Kunstverein , National Theater , Congress Center Rosengarten , the Kunsthalle Mannheim with the sculpture garden of the Kunsthalle Mannheim , the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts , the city library, the N 1 town hall , the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences , Municipal Music School and the Reiss-Engelhorn Museums .
Since 1994, a collection of more than 60 modern and current works (including some loans) by German and international sculpture has been created along the sculpture path, representing various currents of current sculpture.

La Roue / Das Rad 1960 Stein The city of Mannheim bought the so-called Lipsi-Rad in 1964. In 1965 it was set up at the Carl-Diehm-Halle and was nicknamed "Mühlrad". Four years later, a truck driver knocked it over. Since then the wheel has broken. After the repair, the bike was placed at the art gallery. In 1975 it got its current place. The wheel is reminiscent of Karl von Drais , Carl Benz and Heinrich Lanz , who invented the bicycle , the car and the tractor in Mannheim . |
