The Slovenian Air Force is part of the Slovenian Armed Forces and reports to the Slovenian Ministry of Defense .

history

Slovenian territorial defense became the nucleus of the Slovenian army, which was founded in 1993. The Slovenian Air Force is no longer an independent military force.

Since Slovenia does not have its own jet aircraft , the security of the state airspace has been taken over by Hungarian Saab 39 fighter pilots since 2014 . Previously (since Slovenia joined NATO in 2004) Italian units had done this .
