Just like Real Madrid was once the first studio album by the German indie rock band Sportfreunde Stiller .

After the two EPs Do what you want, I go now (1996) and Thonträger (1998), the album was first produced by Uwe Hoffmann and released on the major label Motor at Universal in spring 2000. The recordings for the album took place in Spain .

  • A total of three singles were released: Wellenreiten '54 , Almost by itself and Heimatlied .
  • Because of the song Heimatlied , they and other groups ( MIA. , Virginia Jetzt! ) Were accused of being “German tinkering” and “nationalistic ideas”.
  • The songs “ Wellenreiten” and “ Wunderbaren Jahre” appeared in a raw version on the first two EPs.
