Sokyrynzi ( Ukrainian Сокиринці ; Russian Сокиринцы Sokirinzy ) is a village in the Ukrainian Oblast of Chernihiv with about 1,300 inhabitants (2004).
The village, first mentioned in writing in 1092, is located on the left bank of the Utka ( Утка ), a 16 km long tributary of the Horyn and is the only village in the district council of the same name in Sribne district .
In Sokyrynzi there is a castle and park belonging to the Galagan family from the 19th century, which is now a listed building, and where the Ukrainian social activist, ethnographer , philanthropist and patron Hryhorij Galagan was born.
In the middle to the end of the 19th century, the Ukrainian Kobsar Ostap Weressai Sokyrynzi , who came from the neighboring town of Kaljuschynzi , chose to live . He died in the village in April 1890 and was buried here. His grave is still in the village today, as well as a memorial and a museum in his memory.
The village is located 5 km north of the trunk road N 07 about 15 km northwest of the Rajon center Sribne and 205 km southeast of the Oblast capital Chernihiv .
