Solarnia (Polish: Solarnia ) is a village in Upper Silesia . It is located in the Birawa municipality in the Kędzierzyńsko-Kozielski powiat (Kandrzin-Cosel district) in the Opole Voivodeship .

Solarnia is eight kilometers southeast of the municipality of Birawa , 15 kilometers southeast of the district town of Kędzierzyn-Koźle (Kandrzin-Cosel) and 55 kilometers southeast of the voivodeship capital Opole .
history
The settlement was founded in 1631 and settlers from Bohemia settled here . They built a factory to extract salt.
The place was mentioned in 1784 in the book Beytrage describing Silesia as Sollarina , belonged to a Mr. von Welczek and was in the district of Ratibor and had 19 gardeners, four cottagers and 189 inhabitants. In 1818 the place was mentioned as Sollarina and also as Solarnia . In 1865 Solarnia was parish and schooled in Oderwalde .
In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 68 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 369 for membership in Poland. Solarnia remained with the German Empire . In 1936 the place was renamed Salzforst . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Ratibor .
1945 by then German city came under Polish administration was of Salzenforst in Solarnia renamed and connected Silesia. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999, as part of the administrative reform, the place came to the re-established district of Kandrzin-Cosel .

Culture
In Solarnia there is a bilingual school center with a primary school and a grammar school with lessons in Polish and German for the German minority.
On May 1st, a maypole with a birch on top will be erected in Solarnia. In 2015 a 30 meter high specimen was erected.
