Solveig Nordlund

Solveig Nordlund (born June 9, 1943 in Stockholm , Sweden ) is a Swedish - Portuguese film director .

Career

Nordlund studied history at Stockholm University . In 1962 she met Alberto Seixas Santos , whom she later married, and deepened her interest in film . In 1970 she took her first professional steps towards the cinema. She was assistant to João César Monteiro ( Quem Espera por Sapatos de Defunto Morre Descalço and Fragmentos de Um Films-Esmola ), José Fonseca e Costa ( O Recado ) and to Pedro Só by Alfredo Tropa . Starting with Brandos Costumes by Alberto Seixas Santos in 1975, she also edited films. In the following years she did this for works by u. a. Manoel de Oliveira , João Botelho , Thomas Harlan and in various political documentaries.

From 1973 to 1974 she was a scholarship holder of the Gulbenkian Foundation in Paris , among others with Jean Rouch . After the Carnation Revolution she worked in the film collectives Cinequipa (1974) and Cinequanon (1975) on their television series. Afterwards she was a founding member of the film collective Grupo Zero and worked on the production of numerous films. In 1978 she made her own feature film for the first time, the short film Nem Pássaro Nem Peixe ("Neither bird nor fish").

In collaboration with the Teatro da Cornucópia , she filmed various performances, including pieces by Franz Xaver Kroetz ( Música Para Si , German: "Request Concert", Viagem Para a Felicidade , German: "Reise ins Glück", both 1978, and Outras Perspectivas , German: "Further prospects", 1980) and Karl Valentin ( Ehaben pode exterminá-lo? 1979). Her first feature film was Dina e Django in 1983 , which was followed by more. She also made various short films about writers such as Marguerite Duras , JG Ballard , António Lobo Antunes and Richard Zimler .

In 1998 she filmed the book of the same name by Henning Mankell in Mozambique with Comédia Infantil (German: " The chronicler of the winds ") . In the same year she staged a play for the first time ( A Noite é Mãe do Dia , English: "Night, Mother of the Day", by Lars Norén in the Centro Cultural de Belém ) and did this again and again (most recently in summer 2011, again Norén, in the Teatro Municipal de Almada ).

In 2002 she founded the film production company Ambar Films .
