Son accepted the role without hesitation. In an interview she said: “I know how difficult it is to find a film that gives so much importance to a female character and deals with her life path ... I cannot imagine that I will get the chance to do such a film again during my career . "However, she felt tremendous pressure to play a historical person, as this was the first time she had played such a role:" The hardest part of playing Princess Deokhye was thinking all the time about what the princess would have done in situations faced with the discrepancy between existing archival documents and film adaptation. ”After viewing the finished film, she said she did not regret her choice.
