Łódź Special Economic Zone

The Special Economic Zone Łódź (Polish Voivodeship Office Lodzódzka Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna , abbreviated ŁSSE ) is a special economic zone in Poland . It is mainly located in the Łódź Voivodeship and is administered by Łódzka Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna SA .

The zone was founded in 1997 on the basis of the 1994 Law on Special Economic Zones and an ordinance of the Council of Ministers for a period of 23 years. It was the first special economic zone in Europe.

Special economic zones are characterized by preferential conditions and are geared towards promoting socio-economic development. The one in Łódź has a size of 1,339 hectares and the trend is growing. It has so far shown investment costs of 3.5 billion euros. Around 34,000 jobs have been created here since 1997.

The areas that belong to the ŁSSE are located in 44 places (sub-zones), most of which are located in the Łódź Voivodeship, but also partly in the Mazovian and Greater Poland Voivodeships . In the Lodz Province The zone includes the following places or their surrounding areas: Aleksandrów Łódzki , Bełchatów , Chociw , Kutno , Ksawerów , Łęczyca , Lodz , Ozorków , Piotrków , Radomsko , Rawa Mazowiecka , Sieradz , Sławno , Stryków , Tomaszów , Tubądzin , Wieluń , Wolbórz , Zduńska Wola and Zgierz , in Mazovia it is Warsaw , in Greater Poland Nowe Skalmierzyce and Koło .

The areas of production, service (with storage), innovation, IT, research and development are supported. The largest investors are Dell , BSH , Indesit , Gillette Poland International , Grupa Atlas and Ceramika Tubądzin .

The zone is subsidized for investment and job creation through tax exemption. The amount of funding can be up to 70 percent of the investment volume, depending on the size of the company, and is thus the highest in Europe. An investment must have a minimum volume of 100,000 euros and the activity must be designed for at least five years.
