Soner Uysal (born August 24, 1977 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein , Germany ) is a former German- Turkish soccer player and today's coach .

Player career

Soner Uysal, the son of Turkish immigrants, played in his youth with FG Mutterstadt and Ludwigshafener SC and received his first professional contract in 1996 with the then second division club SV Waldhof Mannheim . On September 27, 1996 he made his professional debut at 1: 4 on the eighth matchday against KFC Uerdingen . In the 1996/97 season he came to 17 missions and three goals and was relegated with the team from the 2nd Bundesliga. In the summer of 1997 Uysal moved to the first Bundesliga for Hamburger SV . After he had only made five appearances in the first half of the season, he was awarded to the then second division club FC Gütersloh in the winter transfer period of the 1997/98 season . He made twelve appearances for FC Gütersloh and finished fifth at the end of the season .

In the summer of 1998 he returned to HSV, but he was not used in the 1998/99 season . He made his comeback on April 1, 2000 in a 1-0 away win on matchday 27 against Borussia Dortmund . On May 13, 2000, Uysal scored his first Bundesliga goal in a 3-0 win on the penultimate matchday against SpVgg Unterhaching with the goal of 2-0. In the 1999/2000 season he came to eight missions and did not play a game in the following season due to injury. For the 2001/02 season he returned to SV Waldhof Mannheim, which was now playing in the 2nd Bundesliga, but ended his professional career in January 2002 due to an irreparable knee damage. In January 2004 he returned to football and joined the Hamburg suburb Wedeler TSV before moving to Örnek / Türkspor Hamburg in January 2005 . Half a year later, Uysal finally ended his career.

Coaching career

After the end of his career, Uysal became assistant coach of the A-youth (U19) of HSV in 2005 . On December 18, 2008, he became an interim coach for the second team and returned at the beginning of 2009 as an assistant coach to the youth team. In 2010 he was assistant coach of the second team until he was promoted to head coach on March 13, 2011 until the end of the season, after Rodolfo Cardoso had taken over the vacant position of assistant coach with the professionals until the end of the season. On September 16, 2015, Uysal took over the second team as head coach from Josef Zinnbauer, who had switched to FC St. Gallen .

With the engagement of Dirk Kunert as the new head coach for the 2016/17 season , Uysal switched back to the position of assistant coach. In the 2017/18 season he assisted Christian Titz . On March 13, 2018, Titz took over the first team; Uysal became his assistant coach again. Since Uysal and Hamburger SV could not agree on a further cooperation, he left the club at the end of the season.

For the 2019/20 season , Uysal was again assistant coach for the second team under Hannes Drews .
