Song Dong-hwan (born February 4, 1980 in Seoul ) is a former South Korean ice hockey player who won the Asia League Ice Hockey twice with Anyang Halla .
Career
Song Dong-hwan began his career as a hockey player on the Kyungbock High School team . At the age of 18, he joined the team at Korea University for four years due to his studies . After spending the 2002/03 season with Dong Won in the South Korean league, he moved to Anyang Halla in the Asia League Ice Hockey , where he played until 2011 - interrupted by his military service from 2006 to 2008. In 2006 he was voted the league's best striker as the top scorer. In 2009 and 2010 he won the South Korean Ice Hockey Cup with Anyang Halla . In 2010 and 2011 he won the Asia League with his team. After these successes, he moved to Japan, where he played for league rivals Nikko IceBucks . But after just one season he returned to South Korea in 2012 and played for High1 in the Asia League until his end of career in 2016 . With the team from Chuncheon he won the South Korean Ice Hockey Cup in December 2012 , to which he made a significant contribution as the most valuable player .
International
Song Dong-hwan took part in the U18 championships in Asia and Oceania for South Korea in 1996, 1997 and 1998 . He was the top scorer in 1997 and 1998 and was also voted the best player of the tournament in 1997. In 1998 he won the championship with South Korea and scored 33 goals in the 92-0 win against Thailand alone.
With the men's national team , he first played at the C World Championships in 1999 and 2000 . After switching to the current division system, he played in Division I in 2002 , 2004 , 2010 and 2011. After relegations in the meantime, he was on the ice in Division II in 2003 and 2009 , where he was promoted to Division I again.
At the Winter Asian Games 2011 he won the bronze medal with the South Korean team behind Kazakhstan and Japan .
