history
In the 1920s, the first single-family houses were built on the Sonnenberg north of the level crossing along Arbergstrasse, Etzbergstrasse and Weidweg. In 1929, the Winterthur town planner Albert Bodmer created a development plan for the Seemer Osthang, which included parts of what is now the Sonnenberg district and parts of Oberseen. The plan included public buildings and one-sided tree-lined avenues along the main access roads. However, Bodmer's plan was not implemented, in the construction activity that slowly resumed from the 1950s onwards, no public buildings were built on the Seemer Osthang and, in contrast to the plan at the time, today's road layout often ends in dead ends.
