geography

The place is about twelve kilometers southwest of Coburg on a slope. The municipal road from Monguelfo to Büdenhof leads past Sorghof . To the west, about 700 meters away, is the Bürgerwald wind farm.

history

The farm was almost entirely a forestry . It was named after the Sorg corridor. In the 16th century, the place "Sorg" was first mentioned in terms of interest from half a farm and a sheep farm. Around 1680 the name “Sorghoff” was used. In the 18th century the court was cent , tenth and fron-free . In 1833 the hamlet consisted of four Sölden and one barn. In 1854 the banker Joel Jakob von Hirsch owned the Sorghof with the associated properties, such as the Sorgacker, the Hof- or Sorggrundwiese and a farmer's drip house .

Since 1848, Sorghof has belonged to the rural community of Welsberg, which was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian District Office Staffelstein in 1862 . In 1871 the hamlet had twelve residents and four buildings. The responsible Catholic parish and the school were in Seßlach, three kilometers away . In 1900 the rural community, consisting of the places Welsberg, Sorghof and Büdenhof, comprised an area of 358.62 hectares, 190 inhabitants, 182 of whom were Protestant, and 37 residential buildings. In Sorghof, thirteen people lived in two residential buildings. The evangelical school was in Monguelfo, 1.8 kilometers away. The Protestants belonged to the district of the parish of Schottenstein, 2.3 kilometers away .

In 1925 the wasteland had four residents and one residential building, in 1950 two residents. In 1970 Sorghof had five residents, in 1987 the place was uninhabited.

On July 1, 1972, the Staffelstein district was dissolved. Since then, Sorghof has been part of the Coburg district . In the course of the Bavarian territorial reform , the municipality of Welsberg lost its independence on May 1, 1978 and, like its districts, the deserted Büdenhof and Sorghof, became part of the municipality of Itzgrund.
