Social Court Braunschweig
The Social Court Braunschweig is a court of social justice . It is one of eight social courts in Lower Saxony and has its seat in Braunschweig .
Courthouse
From 1952, the Braunschweig Social Court was initially housed in Villa Rimpau , Wolfenbütteler Straße 2. Since moving in 2006, it has now been located at Wilhelmstrasse 55 and forms a specialized court center there together with the Braunschweig Administrative Court. The building was erected in 1764 as a "hospital for poor Braunschweig women and men" and is now a listed building. The district court was housed here from 1902 to 1995 .
Judicial district
The judicial district includes the districts of Gifhorn , Goslar , Helmstedt , Peine and Wolfenbüttel as well as the independent cities of Braunschweig , Salzgitter and Wolfsburg . The judicial district thus has over 1.1 million court residents .

Rainer Schmiedl has been president since 2012. The court has around 60 employees, including 24 judges. 57 chambers were formed, including two chambers for supply matters, nine chambers of pension insurance, two chambers of accident insurance, six chambers of severely handicapped law, five chambers of health insurance, three chambers of unemployment insurance, two chambers of social assistance, one chamber of long-term care insurance, twenty-one chambers of basic security for job seekers and six other chambers ( Asylum Seekers Benefits Act, agricultural social insurance, childcare allowance, child benefit, child benefit supplement, cost matters, etc.).
Instance move
The State Social Court of Lower Saxony-Bremen , based in Celle, is superordinate to the Braunschweig Social Court. The Federal Social Court in Kassel is superordinate to this as the last instance .
