The Social Court Mannheim is a court of social jurisdiction in Baden-Wuerttemberg . It is one of eight social courts in the district of the State Social Court of Baden-Württemberg .
Jurisdiction and jurisdiction
The social court has its seat in Mannheim . The judicial district includes the cities of Mannheim and Heidelberg as well as the districts of Rhein-Neckar-Kreis and Neckar-Odenwald-Kreis . In 2007 just under 1.14 million people lived in the district.
The Mannheim Social Court is the court of first instance responsible for disputes under the Social Court Act within its judicial district .
Instance move
The State Social Court of Baden-Württemberg in Stuttgart is directly superordinate to the social court . The Federal Social Court in Kassel is superordinate to this.
History and buildings
The social court was founded on January 1st, 1954. At first it was housed in the old stock exchange building in square E 4. After a short time, it moved into today's domicile in square P 6 on Mannheimer Planken . The sculpture field in the inner courtyard was made by Renate Hoffleit , who won the design competition in 1991.
In 2003/04 there were plans to reduce the number of social courts in Baden-Württemberg and to dissolve the social court in Mannheim. Other considerations were to combine social and administrative jurisdiction. Here too, the Mannheim Social Court would have been dissolved and the district would have been attached to the Karlsruhe Administrative Court . Neither plan was realized. Instead, with the transfer of matters relating to social assistance and the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act on January 1, 2005, the Social Court was given expanded powers.
