Language fan of the year
Sprachpanscher of the year is a negative prize awarded by the German Language Association . V. awards since 1997 "for particularly remarkable mistakes in dealing with the German language". In the year of the first award, he was named "Language Cobbler of the Year". With the award ceremony, the use of Anglicisms is primarily criticized; The price stands "for the unnecessary displacement of German terms through imports from Anglo-Saxon countries and for the dismantling of German as the language of culture and science in general."
The association describes people who consciously or due to a lack of knowledge constantly used new “ trendy ” words, even if there are common German names for them, as “Sprachpanscher” . Users often justify this by saying “there is no suitable German word for some things”, while people who urge caution are often referred to as “people from the past”. The association takes the view that small differences in meaning are constructed between native and foreign language expressions in order to underpin the indispensability of loan words .
The price is similar to the French Académie de la Carpette anglaise .

reception
In the media, by linguists as well as by award winners and candidates, the negative price is in part heavily criticized. For example, when the candidate list was announced in 2011 , the linguist Anatol Stefanowitsch wrote of "insubstantial and difficult to uncheckable allegations" and " linguistic misery". He praised the reaction of the Federal Employment Agency to her nomination, which under the title Knapp beside it is also over: "Association German Language" suggests the wrong dog had pointed out that she was not responsible for the choice of the criticized term " job center " and that terms such as “coaching” or “start-up” as “an integral part of a language that is spoken in the globalized business world” are not puzzling. A spokeswoman for the editorial team of Duden , which was awarded the negative title in 2013, has rejected the VDS criticism with the words "We don't make the language, we objectively depict it".
