Jumping Ross 86 was a German NATO FTX military maneuver in Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia , which took place in autumn 1986.

Division of troops

The BLUE exercise force was composed as follows:

  • Armored Brigade 20, Hemer
    • Panzer Battalion 203
    • Panzer Grenadier Battalion 202

scope

The Maneuver Jumping Horse 86 under the direction of the 7th Panzer Division , Unna , took place from 6 to 12 October 1986 in the Münster-Handorf , Damme , Hanover , Vechta , Nienburg , Steimbke , Bergen , Munster and Cloppenburg training area . A total of 10,000 soldiers as well as 2000 wheeled and 600 tracked vehicles took part. The jumping horse exercise was repeated in 1991.

procedure

The maneuver center for phase I was located in the Clausewitz barracks in Nienburg. For phase II it was with Osterholz-Scharmbeck . ROT built bridges over the Weser at Landesbergen and at Anemolter / Schinna near Stolzenau . Another took place over the leash at Mandelsloh . 1500 reservists were used for jumping horse 86. Furthermore, field landings with air-transportable troops by helicopters were practiced.
