Stem-encompassing knot foot ( Streptopus amplexifolius )

The stem-encompassing nodular foot is a deciduous, rosette-free hemicryptophyte that reaches heights of 30 to 100 centimeters. The rhizome is crooked and knotty. The leaves encompass the stems. The flowers are whitish. The berries are vermilion.

The flowering period extends from June to July. There is insect pollination or self-pollination instead. The seeds are spread through endochoria . The species is a cold germ.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 32.

distribution

The stem-encompassing node base grows in fresh montane spruce and coniferous mixed forests, green alder bushes , tall herbaceous meadows and oozing (canyon) rock banks. He avoids lime. It is a character species of the Alnetum viridis, but also occurs in the Aceri-Fagetum or in the Luzulo-Abietum. The distribution area of the stem-encompassing node foot includes the temperate zones of the northern hemisphere. The species is widespread in Germany in southern Bavaria in the Alps and pre-Alps, rarely in eastern Bavaria in the Bavarian Forest, in southern Baden-Württemberg in the Alpine foothills and in the southern Black Forest, and in southern Saxony in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and in the Ore Mountains in the Zechengrund in front. In Thuringia, the stem-encompassing knot foot has become extinct. In the Allgäu Alps, it rises on the north slope of the Kegelkopf in Bavaria up to 1,800 meters above sea level.
