Christian Fetzer
Christian Fetzer (born January 11, 1984 in Giengen an der Brenz ) is a German wrestler . He was Vice European Champion 2005 in the Greco-Roman style in the lightweight.
Career
Christian Fetzer started wrestling at TSV Herbrechtingen at the age of six in 1990 . He comes from a family of wrestlers. Father Walter Fetzer also wrestled with TSV Herbrechtingen in the 2nd Bundesliga and with KSV Aalen in the 1st Bundesliga. In the course of his career, which was very successful, he had a large number of coaches: starting with his youth coaches around Werner Beck and Walter Fetzer, then at the Anton Nuding Olympic base and later at the Hans Fischer and Bernd Biller club. He was trained by Frank Hartmann for three years at the Olympic base in Saarbrücken. His national coaches were or are Günter Reichelt and Maik Bullmann . The nutritional scientist Wolfgang Feil is also part of his team, and he advises him on nutritional medicine in particular in the area of weight management. He wrestles exclusively in the Greco-Roman style. After his time in Herbrechtingen he also wrestled for ASV Hüttigweiler and SV Germania Weingarten in the 1st Bundesliga. Now (2009) he returned to TSV Herbrechtingen, for which he competes in individual championships. In the Bundesliga he is now under contract with KSV Aalen 05 eV.
Christian Fetzer learned the profession of administrative clerk. Since 2006 he has been studying fitness economics at the German University for Prevention and Health Management in Saarbrücken . He also runs the sports nutrition and clothing company "Sport-Fetzer".
In 1999 Christian Fetzer succeeded in winning the first medal at a German championship in the junior division in the so-called B-youth (international “Cadets”) with 3rd place in the weight class up to 50 kg body weight. In 2002 he won at the German championship of the so-called A-youth (international "Juniors") in the weight class up to 63 kg body weight with 3rd place, his next medal at a German championship. The winner was Marcus Thätner from Frankfurt / Oder , with whom he would still fight hard for the supremacy in Germany in the lightweight category in the following years .
In 2003 Christian Fetzer started for the first time in a German senior championship, but had to be satisfied with a 6th place in the lightweight. In that year, because of the strong performance at the Brandenburg Cup in Frankfurt / Oder, it was also used at the lightweight junior championship in Istanbul . After a victory over the Spaniard Ismael Navarro Sanchez, he had to retire after the 2nd round because of a defeat against the American Justin Harry Lester and came in 19th place.
In 2004 Christian Fetzer continued to improve and became the German junior lightweight champion ahead of Ilyas Özdemir from Marten and Reinhold Kratz from Ketsch . At the German Senior Championships, he achieved an excellent 2nd place in the lightweight, behind Eduard Kratz from Freiburg im Breisgau and ahead of Ismail Baygus from Köllerbach . That year he also won his first medal on the international wrestling mat. He finished 3rd at the European Junior Championships in Murska Sobota in the lightweight with four wins and one defeat in the semifinals against Emilian Todorow from Bulgaria .
In 2005 Christian Fetzer took 3rd place in the German lightweight championship behind Marcus Thätner and Ismail Baygus. However, in the following weeks he succeeded in convincing the coaches of the German Wrestling Federation of his progress, so that he was used at the European championship in Varna in the lightweight. In Varna he presented himself in excellent form and defeated Davor Štefanek from Serbia , Muchran Machutadze from Georgia , Sergei Kowalenko from Russia and the ex-world champion Jimmy Samuelsson from Sweden and was in the final battle against Nikolai Gergow from Bulgaria . He was not quite up to this experienced wrestler and lost on points. The reward for his excellent performance at this tournament was the European Championship silver medal.
In 2006 Christian Fetzer competed in the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid . After a victorious fight against the Dane Jörgensen in the fight against the Russian Demjenko, he suffered another injury, which should prove to be very protracted and practically cost him the 2006 and 2007 seasons. In 2007 he started, hardly recovered, at the German championship, but lost his first fight against Florian Hassler from Hausen-Zell due to his huge training deficit and ended up in 16th place.
In 2008 he came back to 2nd place behind Marcus Thätner at the German championship. He then got the chance to qualify for the Olympic Games at a qualifying tournament in Rome , but could not assert himself there and only came in 23rd place.
In 2009 Christian Fetzer was the first German lightweight champion ahead of Marcus Thätner and Heinz Marnette from VfK Schifferstadt . He also showed rising form at the 2009 European Championships in Vilnius. He won there over Nikolai Savchenko from Ukraine , lost to Ambako Watschadze from Russia , won over Pascal Strebel from Switzerland and lost to Farid Mansurow from Azerbaijan , which he finished in 9th place.
In 2010 he was again German lightweight champion ahead of Frank Stäbler from TSV Musberg and Marcus Thätner. He was then also at the start of the World Championships in Moscow that year. He lost there against Ambako Watschadze, who became world champion, and against Daniel Janecis from Croatia and only came in 22nd place.
In 2011 and 2012 he was German runner-up, in 2011 behind Marcus Thätner and in 2012 behind Matthias Maasch from SV Burghausen.
