The St. Andreas Church in Rappin is the Protestant parish church of the Neuenkirchen parish in the north of the motherland of the island of Rügen .

history

The St. Andrew's Church in Rappin was first mentioned in a document in 1305. Its construction probably began in the second half of the 13th century. It is one of the oldest churches on the island of Rügen. The church received its current form around 1400. The originally wooden bell tower collapsed in 1626. To replace it, a wooden belfry was erected southwest of the church in 1635. The choir and nave were restored in their original colors between 1996 and 1999.

The larger of the two bells was melted down during the First World War. A new second bell was inaugurated in April 2010.

The altarpiece dates from 1669, the pulpit from 1702 and is made of pine wood. The oldest piece in St. Andrew's Church is the medieval baptismal font made of Gotland limestone. It dates from the second half of the 13th century.
