The state-run St.-Josef-Gymnasium is located at Riethstieg 1 in Dingelstädt .

history

The F-shaped building complex was 1903-04 from the on Dorothea Fromm declining St. Joseph Foundation , later Fromm'sche Foundation , as a high school built. The neo-baroque complex with Art Nouveau elements and numerous Christian symbols looks like a castle . In 1920 the house was bought by the Thuiner Franciscan Sisters . After the war there was a high school for girls here. In 1953 the Franciscan Sisters were expelled by the GDR authorities; A polytechnic high school was built in the school building . After the fall of the Wall , the Franciscan Sisters, who still own the house to this day, returned and made it a grammar school again. In 1991 the grammar school changed to the sponsorship of the Eichsfeld district .

Building description

The three-story, irregularly arranged group of buildings is z. T. stone-sighted, z. T. plastered. The buildings are covered with mansard roofs . The window axes are z. Partly structured by pilasters . The facade is loosened up by a risalit that ends with a curved gable . The portal in the risalit has projected, angular pilasters and a curved gable. The interior stairwell is elaborately designed. The chapel was in the south wing , now it's the auditorium . The hall is spanned with a barrel vault that has stitch caps between pilasters. The stucco on the ceiling has fields framed by cartouches and ornaments . The building complex was renovated in 1990/91 .
