St. Aegidius

The Evangelical Lutheran Grade II listed church of St. Giles is in Windeshausen , a district of the rural community of town Heringen / Helme in the district of Nordhausen in Thuringia . The parish Windeshausen belongs to the parish area herring in Kirchenkreis Südharz the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

Consisting of plastered rubble with quoins provided hall church has a recessed, straight closed choir and the square bell tower with Biforien in the West. The choir is part of an early Gothic building that was built around 1260. In 1725 the nave was added and the existing parts were given a baroque style . In the 18th century, an eight-sided tower was built, behind whose arcades the bell chamber with the wooden belfry is located. In addition, a Welsche hood was put on. There is a groin vault on the first floor of the tower . The nave is covered with a wooden barrel vault. The pulpit altar was built around 1700, a wooden Pietà around 1500. The organ with 19 stops , divided into 2 manuals and a pedal , was built in 1782 by Friedrich Heidenreich .
