St. Bartholomew (Oberwerrn)
The Catholic Church of St. Bartholomew is the village church of Oberwerrn , a district of Niederwerrn in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt . The church is one of the monuments of Niederwerrn and is registered together with the crucifixion group in the Bavarian list of monuments under the number D-6-78-160-9 . Oberwerrn forms a parish community with Niederwerrn.
history
Oberwerrn originally belonged to the parish Kronungen . The church tower still exists from the church building from 1608 (year to the left of the tower portal). The old church was built in the years 1891 to 1892. 1978 to 1980 the church was expanded according to designs by the Schweinfurt architect Kurt Blenk.
description
The church tower, a Julius Echter tower , is on the north side of the church. The coat of arms of the prince-bishop is placed above the tower portal. The portal leads to the original nave , which faces the western five-eighth choir . This old church building has pointed arched windows. The new building, illuminated by light strips, ends in the south with a windowless triangular choir niche.
Furnishing
The high altar , side altars and pulpit in the old building are neo-Gothic and were created by Franz Wilhelm Driesler . A large crucifix hangs over the altar of the new building . The organ is on the western gallery . The church has four bells with the tones e '- g' - a '- h'.
