St. Francis (Urexweiler)
The St. Franziskus Church is a Catholic parish church in Urexweiler , a district of the municipality of Marpingen in the southwest of the St. Wendel district , Saarland . It bears the patronage of St. Francis of Assisi . In the list of monuments of the Saarland, the church is a single monument listed.
history
The church was built in 1913/1914 according to plans by the architect Peter Marx ( Trier ) and replaced a church from the Baroque era that had become too small .
Architecture and equipment
The church building was built in the neo-baroque style and has a length of 45 meters (external dimensions), a width of 23 meters in the transept and 18 meters in the main nave , and a height of 18 meters.
Inside the church is the high altar built by the Port brothers ( Münstermaifeld ) in 1914/1915 , which contains parts from the previous building. The pulpit and the side altars are completely from the previous building.
A church guide appeared on the 100th birthday of the church with a detailed description of the church's works of art.
organ
The organ of the church was built in 1939 by the organ building company Johannes Klais Orgelbau ( Bonn ) as Opus 935 and consecrated on July 9, 1939. The instrument survived the Second World War without major damage and is thus largely preserved. At the end of the 1990s the organ was subjected to a thorough cleaning and repairs, whereby the electrical system was not renewed. In 2012 there was an expansion by the organ builder Thomas Gaida ( Wemmetsweiler ).
In terms of sound and disposition, the instrument is indebted to classical organ building, as expressed in the organ movement . Therefore the polyphonic music of the baroque can be represented well.
The cone shop instrument is set up on a gallery and has 29 (40) registers , distributed over 3 manuals and pedal . The playing and stop action is electric. The disposition is as follows:
