St. Helena

The Catholic Church of St. Helena is a listed church building in Barlo , a district of Bocholt , in the Borken district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It is a church location of the parish Liebfrauen with the parish church Liebfrauenkirche (Bocholt) .

History and architecture

The simple, flat-roofed hall church with a 3/8 end was built from 1823 to 1824 by the royal building inspector Johann Christoph Teuto. A sacristy was added in 1858 and the west tower in 1862. The largest renovation was carried out in 1967 and 1968. The north side wall of the nave was removed and a new, wide nave was added as a hall building. The former nave is now the choir room . The sacristy was added to the east wall. The former sacristy is now a morgue.

organ

The organ was built in 1893 by the organ builder Friedrich Fleiter (Münster) as a single-manual instrument and expanded to two manuals in 1957. It has 17 registers. The key actions are mechanical, the stop actions are electrical.
