Friedrich Fleiter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Friedrich Fleiter (* 1836 ; † 1924 ) was a German organ builder .

Life

Friedrich Fleiter trained with the organ builder Haupt in Osnabrück and was later foreman in the organ building workshop of Franz Wilhelm Sonreck before he went into business for himself in Münster in 1872 . He built his first organ there for the Franciscan monastery. Until the middle of the 1890s he built organs with mechanically operated slide chests , and since 1895 those with pneumatic action . He constructed a 1,895 patented so-called capsule charge to control the wind loading system .

His company was initially based in what was then the Kolping House , until it moved into its own workshop building in 1885. Friedrich Fleiter was a co-founder of the Association of German Organ Builders .

In 1912 his son Ludwig Fleiter (1880–1963) took over the company, which still exists today as a successor company. An organ museum is attached to this, in which the example built by Friedrich Fleiter for the church in Albachten is exhibited.
