The Roman Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist is the village church of Sömmersdorf , a district of Euerbach in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt . It belongs to the architectural monuments of Euerbach and is registered together with the two stone crosses in the north facade of the tower and the cemetery cross under the number D-6-78-128-19 in the Bavarian list of monuments .

history

The original mother parish of Sömmersdorf, Brebersdorf , has existed since 1479. In 1588 the tower was built. It has the pointed roof typical of Julius Echter's style. In the years 1795 to 1796 (year of completion on the west side) the nave and the choir were built . The village has been performing the Passion Play, which is unique in Lower Franconia, since 1933.

The high altar in the Rococo style comes from the Church of St. Michael in Würzburg . It dates from 1775. There is a large crucifix above the tabernacle .
