The Church of St. Lawrence (Święty Wawrzyniec w Żółkiewce) is a Roman Catholic parish church in the rural parish of Żółkiewka , which belongs to the Turobin deanship of the Archdiocese of Lublin . The parish has existed since 1417 and the current sacred building since 1770.
history
The parish was founded in 1417; a wooden church originally stood at the site of today's parish church.
During the Reformation in the second half of the 16th century, the landlord Paweł Żółkiewski converted to Calvinism . At the end of his life , however , he converted back to Catholicism and founded a new wooden church with his sons.
The third wooden church, which survived until around 1770, was built by Aleksander Żółkiewski.
The current church was built by Tomasz Stamierowski between 1769 and 1770.
The village lord , Tomasz Stamierowski, commissioned the building on the occasion of his marriage. Designed in the late Baroque style, it was completed in 1770 and consecrated in 1781.
description
The church interior was built in the late baroque style. The sanctuary is narrower and lower than the nave.

On the walls there is a polychrome made of late Baroque paintings made by Gabriel Sławiński in 1776. The rococo - baptismal font from the second half of the 18th century stands on the baptismal font from the 15th century and shows the baptism of Jesus in Jordan . The Feretron , a double-sided picture in a decorative frame, dates from the second half of the 18th century and shows paintings of Mary with baby Jesus and Nicholas of Myra in the Rococo style. Two pastel paintings from the second half of the 18th century show the founder Tomasz Stamierowski and his wife Anna.
