The Roman Catholic branch church St. Mauritius is a church in the Bavarian town of Schwärzelbach , a district of the Bavarian municipality of Wartmannsroth in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen .

The church belongs to the architectural monuments of Wartmannsroth and is registered under the number D-6-72-161-8 in the Bavarian monument list .

The church is dedicated to St. Mauritius .

history

Schwärzelbach was initially a branch of Diebach , from 1737 of Wartmannsroth . In 1901 it became an independent parish with the Neudorf and Neuwirtshaus .

According to an inscription above the north entrance, the St. Mauritius Church was built in 1780.

The church had two bells until 1942. A bell remained in the roof turret and was exchanged for a new ring in 1953.

In 1970 construction began on the sacristy and the parish hall. In 1972 the church building was expanded. The church was consecrated on September 22, 1973.

Description and equipment

The church is one with roof skylights -provided Saalbau , who received a T-shaped floor plan by enlargement. The new transept replaced the old choir and has no windows on the east side. On the west side it has two large glass fronts. The nave has three window axes .

The central statue of the high altar represents St. Mauritius and is flanked by altar columns. The side altars , the cross altar on the left and the Marian altar on the right, are in the classical style. The interior of the church is partly from the second half of the 18th century.

The two-manual organ with 13 registers was built into a neo-baroque case in 1961 by the Passau company Eisenbarth on the western gallery .

In the roof turret hang three bells that were cast in 1953 by the Karl Czudnochowsky bell foundry in Erding .
