The church in Düllstadt

The Church of St. Michael in Düllstadt is the Catholic branch church of the Schwarzach district in the Kitzingen district. It is located on Bamberger Straße in the middle of the village and is part of the Kitzingen dean's office .

history

After the Thirty Years War , Düllstadt was desolate because it had been looted in 1631. Only in the second half of the 17th century people settled in the village again. The lord of the village, the abbot of Münsterschwarzach , promoted the resettlement with the planning of a small church, which should form the new center of the place. The church was built at the behest of Abbot Plazidus I. Büchs , and the consecration took place on September 29, 1688.

The church was changed in the 18th century, a sacristy was added in 1744 and a semicircular stair tower was built on the western nave wall in 1780. In 1905 the sacristy was enlarged. Several renovations followed. The inside of the church was renovated in 1953 and 1977, the outside in 1976 and 1988. The Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation classifies the church as a historical building . Previous buildings in the underground are listed as ground monuments.

architecture

The church is a small hall with a retracted, polygonal choir. Above the choir there is a six-sided roof turret that ends with a dome. The stair tower on the western nave wall opens up the western gallery. Inside the church has a flat ceiling and is lit by two window axes. The choir has a barrel vault with stitch caps.

Furnishing

When the building was consecrated, the high altar with a two-column structure from the 17th century was in the choir. The pillars are tangled. The altarpiece with St. Michael was painted by Andreas Leimgrub from Würzburg in the 19th century. On the side passages there is the figure of John the Baptist on the left and that of St. Joseph on the right. The extract bears an IHS monogram .

The ceiling was decorated with stucco in the second half of the 18th century, you can again see the IHS monogram and a heart. The people's altar is a simple table with metal feet. Another altar in the nave is dedicated to the Virgin Mary . The Immaculata also painted in 1860 Leimgrub. A figure of Our Lady comes from the 18th century.

In the church there is a fabric border with coins from past centuries. On the north side of the nave is the pulpit from 1688, a saint statue of Michael commemorates the church patron. A lecture cross indicates the pilgrimage tradition. The organ case was created around 1750. In 2001 the instrument was renovated. Two bells hang in the roof turret.
