The Evangelical-Lutheran listed village church of St. Michael is in Kirchengel , a district of the community of Großenehrich in the Kyffhäuserkreis in Thuringia . The parish of Kirchengel belongs to the Greußen parish of the Greußen-Großenehrich parish in the Bad Frankenhausen-Sondershausen parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The church, which has been rebuilt several times, is essentially from the 11th / 12th Century. Today, from rubble -built hall church consists of a nave and a drawn, just closing chorus . Between them stands the transverse church tower , which, like the nave , is covered with a half-hip roof. The belfry is located behind its pointed arched sound arcades . The nave was extended to the west and slightly raised in 1694 during the installation of the galleries , the date is on a pillar . On the south side there was formerly a stepped round archPortal . On the north side is the stairway to the galleries. The short nave is covered with a wooden barrel vault. The two-storey, three-sided galleries have applique angel heads. The yoke of the tower and the choir are also covered with a wooden barrel vault. The pulpit altar is from the middle of the 18th century.

The organ with ten registers , divided into a manual and a pedal , was built in 1870 by Johann Sebastian Maul from Greußen.

The church was renovated in 1883 and last around 1988.
