The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Nikolaus is a listed church building in Natzungen , a district of Borgentreich in the Höxter district , North Rhine-Westphalia . The community belongs to the pastoral association Borgentreicher Land.

History and architecture

The parish was first documented in 1231. The Romanesque west tower is stocky. The ship was built in 1806 as a flat-roofed classical hall . The walls are divided with large Gothic tracery windows. The building was extended to the east and vaulted in 1933 .

The nave was replaced by a new building from 1969 to 1971.

Furnishing

  • The high altar was made according to a designation in 1692 and moved from the Abdinghof Church in Paderborn in 1807 . On this occasion, Philipp Georg Brüll rebuilt it and rewrote it. The flanking figures are works by Heinrich Gröne . The saints are Peter, Paul, Felix and Pantaleon. In the structure there are figures of Stephan, Blasius and Maria. The altar panel with the Adoration of the Magi was created by Johann Georg Rudolphi . It is inscribed and signed 1692, based on a painting of the same name by Rubens .
  • A wooden crucifixion group from the early 18th century can be seen in the south side altar .
