Saint Nicholas

The Catholic parish church of St. Nicholas is in Dorsbrunn (Markt Pleinfeld ) on the edge of a steep slope and can be reached via a long staircase. It is a branch of St. Augustine in Stopfenheim , but has its own pastor . The Dorsbrunn church originally goes back to a Romanesque hall church that was consecrated in the 12th century . The present building, a choir tower , dates from the late Middle Ages and was in 1767 in the style of Rococo redesigned. The building is registered under the monument number D-5-77-161-56 as an architectural monument in the Bavarian monument list.

A high wall surrounds the cemetery from which the square sandstone building of the church rises. The square roof tower is octagonal and ends in an onion-shaped dome . The three altars inside are creations of the early 18th century. The St. Barbara and St. Catherine adorn the high altar . The organ with 7 registers built by August Bittner in the gallery in 1866 was restored by Orgelbau Sandtner in 2010 .
