The St. Pancras ordained Roman Catholic Church of St. Pancras is the village church of Sondernau , a district of in Lower Franconia nearby market Oberelsbach . It is one of the architectural monuments of Oberelsbach and is registered under the number D-6-73-149-24 in the Bavarian Monument List . Sondernau is part of the parish community "Immanuel in the Hohe Rhön".

history

Sondernau was a branch of Oberelsbach. The church tower was built in the Middle Ages. Its elevation and the construction of the nave took place in 1600 under the Würzburg Prince-Bishop Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn .

Description and equipment

The church tower, a Julius Echter tower with a pointed roof, stands as a choir tower in the east. The nave has three window axes . The nave and choir are flat-roofed.

The entire interior of the church today dates from around 1750. It includes a high altar with figures of St. Pancratius and St. Laurentius , a pulpit , a baptismal font and a bell.
