St. Peter and Paul (Antdorf)
The Catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul is located on the church square in Antdorf in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau .
history
After the late Gothic predecessor of today's church burned down in the Thirty Years' War in the village fire caused by the Swedes , a new parish church was built between 1688 and 1694 by the Wessobrunn master builder Caspar Feichtmayr under Pastor Mathäus Koch. The inauguration in honor of Peter and Paul took place upon completion in 1694. The baroque church was renovated for the first time in 1895/96 in partly neo-baroque style and was last renovated in 2002/03.
Architecture and equipment
The baroque hall building with a strongly drawn-in polygonal choir and the flank tower connected to the north is based on the late Gothic previous building and is painted in white and yellow. A two-storey sacristy is added.
Since the renovation in 1895/96 there has been a statue of the Sacred Heart on the high altar . At that time, the transparent glass windows were also replaced by brightly painted ones designed by Kirchmair in Munich in 1895 , which are painted both inside and out. The splendid figure of Mary from around 1470 was given to the parish on permanent loan from the Bavarian National Museum .
A crucifix from the beginning of the 17th century depicting Mater Dolorosa can be seen on the north wall of the church.
Bells
The five old steel bells were replaced by new bronze bells in 2011. The old bells have been standing in the cemetery adjacent to the church ever since.
