A parish in Bodendorf is first handed down in 1282. Predecessor buildings of the church were erected on the same site in 1356 and 1647.

In the early 1970s, the church was enlarged, with the south aisle being demolished and the former nave becoming the transept . The baptismal font is now in the former choir . Whitsun 1972, 100 years after the inauguration, the church was consecrated again by Trier Auxiliary Bishop Alfred Kleinermeilert .
