The Catholic parish church of St. Servatius is a listed church building in Bornheim , a town in the Rhein-Sieg district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The cross - shaped neo-Gothic building stands on a slope above the main road. The church was built from 1864 to 1866 in yellow brick according to plans by the Bonn district architect Paul Richard Thomann . Thomann was a student of Karl Friedrich Schinkel . From 1897 to 1898, due to a lack of space, it was extended to the hall church by adding side aisles . The interior version was restored in 1983 based on the state of the late 19th century.

Furnishing

  • The cylindrical baptismal font from andesite is from the 12th century.
  • The wooden sculpture of Mary's instruction was made around 1500 in Cologne.
  • A baroque wooden statue of St. Servatius

organ

The neo-Gothic organ was installed in 1889 by the Ernst Seifert company in Cologne- Mannsfeld . In 1974 the failure-prone membrane drawers (pneumatic action) had to be replaced. The Dutch Verschueren Orgelbouw from Heythuysen accepted this order . The gaming table was also replaced by a mobile one. Only the case and pipework could be retained.
