St. Trinity in Beutnitz

The Protestant village church of St. Trinitatis stands on the northern edge of the village of Beutnitz and at the southern foot of the sloping terrain of the Tautenburger Wald and is part of the community of Golmsdorf in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia .

history

It is said from 1406 that an Elisabeth had herself walled into the walls of the Beutnitz church. She lived to pray. This is associated with the first naming of the church in Beutnitz. Some wealthy families donated for the retreat . Their names are immortalized on a silver plaque on the altar of the church. Including some names of the Wettins .

During restoration work, new archaeological evidence in the form of a coin dated from 1085 was found under the altar. So the church history and that of the Gleisetal must be rethought. It is now documented that the Christianization of the area around the Gleise - and Saale valley did not begin around the 12th century.

Remains of the wall of an altar niche that was built on the church tower in 1320 were also excavated . This church tower was then a fortified church . Two older children's graves were also found. The floor was closed in such a way that research can be continued later, because with this measure the desired renovation of the interior of the church has been completed for 20 years .

In 1408 Albrecht von Buttelstedt , living in Golmsdorf, donated a new altar. In 1438 Rudolph von Meldingen and his son Erhard founded a chapel.

The organ is not playable. A church building association in Golmsdorf / Steudnitz was founded.
