The Catholic, former parish church of St. Vincentius is a listed church building in Hattenheim , a district of the city of Eltville am Rhein . St. Vincentius in Hattenheim formed together with St. Peter and Paul in Eltville, St. Markus in Erbach and St. Valentinus in Kiedrich the community association "Pastoraler Raum Eltville". Since 2015 St. Vincentius has been a branch church of the parish of St. Peter and Paul Rheingau, a new type of parish. Now St. Peter and Paul in Eltville is also the parish church of Hattenheim.

history

The church was dedicated to the martyr Vincent of Valencia . His figure, with the grate in hand as the symbol of his martyrdom, adorns the lintel of the main entrance.

Of the medieval church , built around 1240, only the tower built around 1240 is preserved. The rectangular baroque hall with the retracted choir was built from 1739 to 1740. Paintings by Johann Voleanus can be seen on the ceiling. The uniform interior from 1740 has been completely preserved. In front of the church is a crucifixion group from the workshop of Hans Backoffen , created around 1508–1510.
