The Catholic parish church of St. Vincentius in Wershofen , a local community in the Ahrweiler district in the north of Rhineland-Palatinate , was built between 1953 and 1955. The church is located at Hauptstrasse 65 and parts of the furnishings are protected as a cultural monument.

history

The church, consecrated to St. Vincent , was built after the demolition of the old medieval church between 1953 and 1955 in the same place as the previous building. The late Gothic door jamb of aborted northern sacristy was reused for the entrance to the new sacristy.

architecture

In the west stands the square bell tower and attached to it is a semicircular entrance hall. The adjoining nave has only a low ceiling height and the building ends with a semicircular apse in the east. The arched windows are partly combined in groups. The altar , tabernacle , pulpit , confessional , pews and holy water basin were designed by the church's architect, Fritz Thoma from Trier .

Furnishing

The most valuable pieces of church furnishings are the Christ carrying the cross, the Madonna and Child and the sculpture of St. Vincent. They come from the workshop of the Cologne sculptor Meister Tilmann and are dated to the end of the 15th century. You are on the list of cultural monuments in Wershofen .

window

The lead glass windows were made from boxes by Reinhard Heß in the Kaschenbach glass painting workshop in Trier.
