The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Vitus was built in Heckfeld in 1604 by the Würzburg prince-bishop Julius Echter .

history

At the site of the Vitus Church, built in 1604, a previous building is assumed, probably a small church. In 1894 the church was expanded. Also in 1894 the church received a Veit organ and in 1896 the Joseph altar. The last major renovation took place in 1970. New colored glass windows by Franz Dewalt and a bronze Madonna by the sculptor Otto Sonnleitner were installed.

The Heckfelder Vituskirche belongs to the pastoral care unit Lauda-Königshofen, which is assigned to the deanery Tauberbischofsheim of the Archdiocese of Freiburg .
