The patron saint of the church is St. Vitus , one of the fourteen helpers in need .

history

The medieval choir tower church was extended in 1727 and replaced by a new building in 1776/77 under the direction of Johann Martin Pentenrieder. Only the square tower substructure remained from the previous church.

architecture

Double gallery in the west

On the east side of the church rises the bell tower with its square substructure, which is crowned by an octagon with a pointed helmet. The central building , which swings wide in the middle, is covered by an illusionistically painted false dome. The square choir and the square annex to the west, which is taken up by a double gallery , also have frescoed false domes.

Frescoes

The ceiling frescoes were executed in 1777 by Johann Josef Anton Huber . They represent angels with a monstrance and a censer in the choir , the martyrdom of St. Vitus in the nave and the glorification of the patron saint of the church above the gallery .

Murals

The paintings in the nave niches depicting Saint George , Archangel Michael , Maria Magdalenas and the Apostle Peter were created by Johann Josef Anton Huber , as were the assistant figures Maria, Maria Magdalena and Johannes in the high altar niche .
